ATI 425®-MIL titanium alloy is a high-strength titanium alloy available in variety of forms, including ballistic-grade plate and cold-rolled coil or sheet for structural defense applications.
The combination of strength and ductility found in ATI 425®-MIL titanium alloy make it useful for applications that require bending and forming, which can help reduce the number of manufacturing operations such as welding.
ATI 425®-MIL titanium alloy can be both hot and cold worked. Its enhanced ductility allows for certain room temperature forming operations and severe forming at warm and hot temperatures, below those needed for other high strength titanium alloys.
ATI 425®-MIL titanium alloy is easily welded in the annealed condition using all conventional methods typically applied to titanium, such as TIG, MIG, EB and plasma.
ATI 425®-MIL titanium alloy performs similarly to Ti-6Al-4V (Grade 5 titanium) and Ti-3Al-2.5V (Grade 9 titanium ) in marine and other environments.
ATI 425®-MIL titanium alloy possesses outstanding hot-forming capability with processing temperatures well below those demanded by incumbent titanium alloys. This and other attributes associated with this new alloy provide excellent opportunities for cost-reductions making it the material of choice, plate or sheet, for parts requiring hot forming, superplastic forming and/or diffusion bonding processing.
